Code of conduct

Woodville Hockey Club expects all of its members to abide by the club’s code of conduct. The codes exists to ensure that everyone can enjoy being part of an inclusive club, without fear of prejudice, harassment or abuse. As a club we extend this same courtesy to all other players, officials, coaches and spectators.

Key to the players code of conduct is to play fair and respect all participants.

  • Play fair – no verbal abuse of officials, sledging of other players (including vilification) or deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants – regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion;

Coaches will keep in mind that players participate for pleasure – winning is only part of the fun. Coaches operate within the rules and spirit of our sport and help their players understand that playing by the rules is the player’s responsibility.

Key to juniors coaches is that they must create a safe, appropriate environment for children.

Official will endeavor to be consistent, objective and courteous when making decisions.

Spectators will respect officials’ decisions. They will applaud good performance and efforts from all individuals and teams, and show appreciation for coaches, officials and administrators. Spectators will remember that hockey is volunteer run and that we are not playing for sheep stations.

We understand that issues can pop up, and we’re committed to listening to you when they do. If you have a problem please let us know by emailing: Woodville Hockey Club is committed to supporting people associated with our sport and we aim to resolve any complaints they may have in a fair, timely and effective way.
