About the project
Woodville Hockey Club commenced proactively working towards an upgrade of our outdated clubrooms in 2017. Extensive engagement with members, our local community and the City of Charles Sturt, via patron and long-time supported Cr Oanh Nguyen, resulted in the allocation of $20,000 from the City of Charles Sturt in 2019/20 to explore options and develop concept designs.
In September 2020, the City of Charles Sturt announced the allocation of $1 million to support a full demolition and rebuild. Funding is being provided from the federal government’s COVID economic stimulus package. We acknowledge the City of Charles Sturt in providing this much needed funding. It is a significant investment in our club’s future and will enable us to continue to grow and attract new members and users.
We look forward to our upgraded clubrooms providing a welcome and inclusive space that supports local recreation and community life. The new clubroom design was developed using the original feedback from the club community, as well as the practical needs and functions of the building to service the community. It will include:
- 4 changerooms
- New bar, canteen and office facilities
- Views of the synthetic pitch from the bar and multipurpose space
- Improved accessibility
